Is eating a plant-based diet good for the environment? Most people wonder why veganism is so important. Is it only moral values? Or is it good for health? Well, yes veganism is important for both, but most importantly it is also good for the environment. According to a new study, adopting a plant-based diet could be the “single best way” to reduce the adverse impact on the environment. The emission of greenhouse gases, land usage, and water wastage can be protected only if everyone adopts a green diet.

Animal agriculture uses an enormous amount of land. It does not only lead to despoilment of the land but also leaves behind a huge amount of waste which is one of the main reasons for greenhouse gas emission. According to the UN, the animal industry accounts for 14.5% of the artificial emission of greenhouse gases.
Not only harmful gas emission and land wastage, but animal agriculture also causes a vast percentage of wastage of water. A pound of meat can take 1,800 to 4,000 gallons of water to deliver (Hudepohl, 2020). It also interferes with water streams. Soil erosion caused by cattle leads to coagulation of streams. A plant-based diet is the eco-friendliest diet and can help save our mother earth.
